A Little Transparency on Medium Would Go A Long Way

…If we knew why things are the way they are here, it would be less frustrating

I feel like a little transparency on how Medium comes to its decisions would go a long way — the almighty algorithm, yes, but mostly I’m talking about how earnings are decided.

Because under the current system you have to be a maths prodigy with a love of Pokemon cards to follow the logic, and I am not.

If I could just figure out why, when my stats are relatively steady, my earnings are down (as Susie Kearley has also noticed)… well, it might not help, but it wouldn’t hurt, would it?

Not that I’m throwing in any metaphorical towels —I’m 100% done with marching to any tune but my own — but the lack of knowledge about how this platform works is beyond irritating. I’m someone who likes to have all the info. in order to make choices, y’know?

It’s hard to think ahead sometimes when the goalposts are so seemingly ephemeral.
