The Sigil by Shakeil Kanish and Larissa Mandeville

✨I received a free review copy of this book from Shakeil Kanish. Shakeil and I follow each other on Twitter: this doesn’t affect the content or fairness of my review.

✨This is #OwnVoices for LGBTQ+ and PoC representation.

The Sigil is about Lake, who wants some serious answers from his brother’s magic school. The school just wants him to go away.

✨This book is really absorbing — very ‘one more chapter’-y.

✨The characters rock — especially Lake and Knox.

✨I love Lake’s ‘f**k it, some are born great, others are gonna make themselves great’ attitude! Dude doesn’t give up, and I love that!

The horror/dark fantasy elements are awesome — might be too dark for some people though!

✨The vagueness of the magic system may annoy some readers.

✨There were quite a few typos throughout.

✨Overall, The Sigil is unique, heartfelt, and deeply absorbing.
