Censorship of Queer existence continues in the USA

In line with the horrifying book-banning trend sweeping parts of the US, politicians in the state of Virginia are suing Oni Press, the publishers of graphic memoir Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe, for, y’know… publishing it.

This is censorship. In case anyone was in doubt.

Apparently America only cares about protecting free speech if it means some jerk can scream bigotted things at marginalised people online.

Queer people simple existing — and writing and publishing books about our own experiences, heaven forbid — isn’t permitted.

(For more on censorship across the US and beyond, I highly recommend Book Riot’s Censorship tag)
