I mean... I figured the reviewer, albeit simply, was suggesting that the film elevates the art of music to a pretentious level in order to make others feel inferior. I don't know whether that's a fair criticism as I haven't seen the film, but that's what I took from the review.

Some films - again, I haven't seen this one, maybe the criticism is unfair - are pretentious, or self-indulgent, or both. Commonly this is when the artist/creator/whatever has elevated themselves above the audience - when they believe they're better than the audience, and it shows. But also when they're actually using a whole lot of time and media to appear intelligent, when they're really saying not very much, if anything, at all.

(I also figure the review was probably written on a phone, since the typos just have that finger-smoosh vibe, lol.)
