OK, I watched the first episode of Echo… and I really hope the rest of the series is this good!

ARGH! It was so awesome.

I mean, I knew I loved Maya (Choctaw) from watching her do her villain/anti-hero thing in Hawkeye — it’s hard for a character to stand-out so well when Vincent D’Onofrio as King Pin was such a big presence in her part of the plot, but she was so awesome.

And Alaqua Cox (Menominee and Mohican) is a massive talent, who people need to give lots of acting jobs.

Casting people — get on that. Find parts for her. I realise an Indigenous Deaf superhero was practically written for her, but find her other stuff too please!

Not only are Alaqua Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio really putting in great performances, I also love some of the artistic choices we’re going with here -

from the camera work, to the time frames, and the use of sound and silence… so amazing!

(FYI, the head writers, Marion Dayre and Amy Rarin, are women, and the director and executive producer, Sydney Freeland (Navajo,) is a Native woman — if the 1st ep is anything to go by, they’re doing an excellent job and I am here for it.)

Should probably also note that this show can accurately be described as bloody and violent…

the effects people are out here living their best lives, and I’m not about to get in their way! 😅
