Batman and Robin.

Yes, the one with George Clooney and the bat-nipples. (That’s not me being rude — there are literal nipples on his suit.)

This has long been derided as one of the worst superhero movies of all time — and I disagree.

No, really.

I’ve always loved the Batman and Robin film since I first saw it as a kid.

And yes, I know, kids love random cr*p sometimes. Even kids who can easily tell the difference between a piece by Beethoven, and one by Chopin like my precocious butt could.

But… there’s more to it than that.

Basically: this movie be Queer af.

I mean… of course it is — Joel Schumacher, master of the Queer subtext, directed it.

The director of subtextually-Queer horror classic The Lost Boys. That Joel Schumacher.

Batman and Robin is — perhaps unintentionally, perhaps subconsciously — pure Gay culture.

It’s camp, yes, but more importantly it’s clear that Schumacher made something he found cool and fun. It wasn’t made for an Allocishet, straight, audience. It was made for the nerdy Gays…
