…or a brief musing on all those ‘best [x] of the year’ lists and articles

Does anyone else find the corporate quantification of ‘best [x] of the year’ an arbitrary and demoralising attempt at commercialising opinion?

Especially given the world events of the past two years?

Absolutely NO hate to people who make their own personal lists of faves/bests etc. — rock on and enjoy yourselves!

It’s the big news outlets etc., and their yearly feeding frenzy, that feels exploitative.

(And yes, it’s possible that my tiredness has led to me rambling like a Victorian dictionary. Again. *shrugs*)
