Oh Damn, Ma’am

Poetry. (One of those ones from the universe — please don’t hold me responsible.)

Oh damn, ma’am,
can you tell me where I am, ma’am?
— I wanna get
back
to where I was
be-
fore.

Oh damn, ma’am,
do you know the way
outta here?
Cos I gotta get off this
ride,
— find the o-
ther side,
…cos I can’t a-
bide
the dark that’s
draw-
ing in

Oh ma’am,
damn,
something isn’t right,
here.
— Don’t tell me you can’t feel it…

I’m telling you it’s clear,
ma’am,
— it’s in
the
air

Oh damn, ma’am,
have pity on me,
won’t you?
Cos you know I never meant to let it
get
this
far
Oh I swear it’s true
that I ne-
ver
want-
ed
this
