Oh I’m not throwing in the towel — I’m just not doing things the same way any more. I’m throwing away all the advice and figuring out how to make the effort and the outcome balance in a way I can live with.

My PE teachers sucked. We had to do ‘games’ (sports) as a separate thing, and they used to make the girls do cross-country across the swamp (my teacher literally called it ‘old swampy’) while the boys stayed inside and played volleyball because their teachers didn’t want to get wet.
