‘Oh man kid, you got some issues.’ — A Letter To My Younger Self

Some brief context:

I wrote this not long after my birthday in 2017, and posted it on my blog dorareads.co.uk .

I wasn’t expecting it to become a hugely popular post — I thought it would maybe get a handful of views from some of my most loyal readers. And that was fine by me.

The response was larger than I’d ever imagined — with over 1000 views and so many people responding to it…

What surprised me was the number of people who told me that not only had they loved it, but it made them cry — not my intention, by the way— and that that wasn’t a bad thing.

I hope it still has the power to bring… whatever it was that people saw in it back then.

(Warning: this post contains references to suicidal thoughts and feelings, as well as brief references to grief, depression, abusive/toxic friendships, and the general randomness of my life.)
