The CW has confirmed that The Flash’s next (and ninth,) series will be its last. It will also be only 13 episodes.

CW have been haemorrhaging Arrowverse shows since the end of the lynchpin and founding-show, Arrow, in early 2020.

Supergirl followed in 2021, with Batwoman and, shockingly, cornerstone-series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, being cancelled earlier this year.

That’s… two years. Three if we take into account that the last series of The Flash will air in 2023.

Three years for the vast, sprawling, beautiful superhero universe to just… fade away.

Maybe it was time — maybe these things just come to a natural end, sometimes.

But… these shows have been a rock for me since Arrow started in 2012. And I’m going to miss them, so much.
