Warning: this post discusses the affects of Depression/Anxiety.

Disclaimer time: I am not a medical, mental health, or psychology professional.

I like to use true crime media to focus.

I like the cause-and-effect nature of it.

Sometimes the gears in my brain get stuck; sometimes the only thing that makes them move again is true crime.

…Like I can suddenly think again.

I struggle with my attention span and memory, because of brain fog from Depression and Anxiety.

The definitive cause-and-effect/sequential structure of true crime helps me to order my whirling thoughts into something that’s at least semi-workable.

And I’ve found it’s an affect that I can build up.

If I watch/listen to/read/audiobook a bunch of true crime stuff, then I’ve noticed it’s generally easier to concentrate afterwards.

True crime. A weird focussing tool, sure. But if it works, it works!
