Well there’s a split at 16 (year 11) where a lot of people will go to colleges to do A-levels, or just leave to go into employment or apprenticeships. A lot of schools don’t even have a 6th Form, so the kids go to a different school, or a college, or a 6th Form college (which is different, because why make things simple?) — so year 11 and year 13 are both treated as ‘leavers’ years, because there’s a good chance that you won’t be with all of the people from year 11 after that year.

But actually prom was a relatively recent introduction to my school at the time, and ours was the first year with a year 11 prom so I was like, why would I care?’ y’know? I was so ill for my teen years, and it was the furthest damned thing from my mind tbh.
